Nutriolens — Privacy Policy
Nutriolens is a nutrition app published by Digital Wonderlab Limited. This policy explains what information the app handles, how long it is kept, and how you can delete it. It applies to the Nutriolens mobile app; our website is covered by the policy at digitalwonderlab.com.
Information we collect
Nutriolens does not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, telephone number, date of birth, location or payment details, and the app contains no advertising or tracking technology.
The app handles only what you choose to give it:
- food photographs you take or select, and food descriptions you type;
- the meals you save, with their date, time and estimated nutritional values.
This information is held on your own device. Digital Wonderlab does not receive it and cannot see it.
How we use it
We use this information for one purpose: to identify the food you have photographed or described and estimate its nutritional content, and to show you the meals you have saved. We do not use it for advertising, marketing or profiling, and we make no automated decisions about you.
Who we share it with
To produce a nutritional estimate, the photograph or description you submit is sent securely to a third-party artificial intelligence service provider that performs the analysis on our behalf and returns the result. That provider is contractually permitted to use the information only to provide this service, and may process it outside the United Kingdom under safeguards required by data protection law.
We do not share your information with anyone else. We do not sell it, and we do not disclose it to advertisers, data brokers or analytics companies. We may disclose information only where the law requires it.
Data retention
Digital Wonderlab does not store or retain your personal data. We hold no account records, no copies of your photographs and no record of the meals you log.
The meals and photographs saved in the app remain on your device for as long as you choose to keep them, and are erased as soon as you delete them. Our analysis provider keeps the photograph or description only for as long as needed to return the result, and briefly thereafter for security and misuse monitoring, after which it is deleted; it is never used to train artificial intelligence models.
If you write to us, we keep your message for up to twelve months so that we have a record of how we handled it, and then delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it for longer.
Deleting your data
You can erase your Nutriolens information at any time, and you do not need our permission or assistance to do so.
- To delete a single meal: open the History screen in the app, select the meal and choose Delete.
- To delete everything on Android: go to Settings, then Apps, then Nutriolens, then Storage, and choose Clear storage. Uninstalling the app has the same effect.
- To delete everything on iPhone: press and hold the Nutriolens icon, choose Remove App, then Delete App.
Because everything is held on your device, these steps delete your information permanently. We hold no copy and no backup.
If you would like our help: email hello@digitalwonderlab.com with the subject “Nutriolens data deletion request”. Please note that we cannot delete the meals and photographs held in the app for you, because we have no access to your device — the steps above do that immediately and permanently, and are the only way to remove them.
Within one month of receiving your request we will confirm in writing what information, if any, we hold about you, delete anything we do hold, and pass your request on to our analysis provider if their short-term copy has not already expired. In most cases the only information we hold is the email you have sent us, which we delete once your request is closed. There is no charge for making a request and you do not need an account.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected, deleted or restricted, or to object to our use of it. Because your information stays on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app.
To make a request, or if you have any concern about how your information is handled, please contact us using the details below. If you remain dissatisfied you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or to the supervisory authority in your country.
Security
We are committed to keeping your information secure. Information held in the app is protected by your device and its security settings, and anything sent for analysis is encrypted in transit. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, and keeping your device locked and up to date remains the most effective protection.
Children
Nutriolens is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child's information has reached us, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and continued use of the app means you accept the current version.
